The Women’S Rights Convention Took Place In Seneca Falls,

The Women’s Rights Convention took place in Seneca Falls, New York 1848. This was the first ever women’s rights convention in the United States, and with almost 200 women in attendance. This convention was organized by Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Kelly Stanton, who were both abolitionists that met at the 1840 World Anti-Slavery Convention in London. In 1848 at Elizabeth Stanton’s home near Seneca Falls, the two women, Mott and Stanton, were working with Martha Wright, Mary Ann McClintock and Jane Hunt, to send out a call for a women’s conference to be held at Seneca Falls. On July 19, 1848, 200 women gathered at the Wesleyan Chapel. Stanton read the â€Å"Declaration of Sentiments and Grievances†, something she had written over the previous†¦show more content†¦Women began entering male dominated professions such as law, medicine, clergy and corporate. Women also began to commence several new institutions. The suffrage movement allowed for women to fix their place in society and take a closer step to full equality of people in America. After the suffrage movement, women’s economic roles increased in society. Since there were now more educational opportunities, it led more and more women to find and use their potential for meaningful and professional careers. Women s salaries also increased but not to the amount men had received. However, this was still a huge achievement for women because it was such a huge step from what it had been before. The resistance of giving women the right to vote began to cease when the territorial legislature of Wyoming granted women the vote in 1869; it was the first permanent suffrage law in U.S. history. By the 1890’s many states had granted suffrage. By 1913 there were 12 states and the National Woman’s Party, under leadership of Alice Paul, decided to harness the voting power of women in those states to push a suffrage resolution through congress. The country’s involvement in WWI needed the help of women; which then provided the suffragists their power. When the U.S. entered the war in 1917, a woman’s suffrage amendment was submitted into the House of Representatives. My Coaching Behavior Lab, The Head Coach For Women s Golf

For this Coaching Behavior Lab, the women’s golf coach was observed during a pre-tournament practice. Jan Mann, the head coach for women’s golf since 2009, provided multiple feedback statements that were communicated with student athletes while practicing on Finley Golf Course. She was observed for a 60-minute period, covering nine holes on the course. Only those participating in the tournament were present for feedback from Coach Mann. Athletes practiced techniques that would be used during the upcoming tournament. These included both physical and mental capacities that coincided with one of Coach Mann’s statements: golf is very much a mental game. She was very hands-on, providing feedback in a more personal manner Out of the 36 behaviors, 8 of them were directed towards a player’s desirable performance. Praise plus instruction made up a majority of these behaviors at 62.5% and the remaining percentage was split evenly with praise only, instruction only, and no reinforcement. This distribution of behavior has a high likelihood of being effective in terms of teaching behavior. The coach provided the athletes with some form of reinforcement the majority of the time, only failing to do so once. The coach either responded to the outcome with praise, instruction, or a combination of both. However, the praise was never excessive or delivered in a way that could negatively affect the arousal level of the athlete. Although there were some lectures which came across to me as a bit hard to believe, such as Scott Roos’s Ayurveda lecture, in the end all of these different methods of healing and self-betterment gave me a new understanding of the importance of alternative types of medicine. And even with the rather far-fetch topics, if they ultimately have worked for people, even without scientific backing, then who are we to judge what is the right or wrong way. For the most part, my knowledge of medicine was backed mainly by the western medicine I was exposed to growing up,†¦show more content†¦From the lecture, I learned that pregnancy can be a very unique experience for different types of people and can surely be a psychological challenge. With this this new understanding, it became easy to recognize why midwives could end up being very beneficial for expecting mothers, all the way throughout the process of pregnancy. This is where I became particularly interested because besides the midwives job having the women understand the process of pregnancy, it was their job to help the women attain a certain level of peace and calm, all the way throughout the process, as they have someone that they come to trust right up until the end. Having the women in the mindset that it will be a good experience is vital in making it be so in actuality. This indirect lesson about mentality carried over nicely into one of the workshops that I chose to do, which was yoga. The practice of yoga and its results yield such a counterintuitive experience. In fact, for a long time, I have had family members, my girlfriend, and countless others rave about the benefits of the practice, but for some reason I never bought in and decided to go to a class. It felt to me like something that wouldn’t really make much difference overnight and even if it did over time, it wouldn’t be too substantial. I could not be more wrong.
